Guidelines for determining Values on Collections: WHAT'S IT WORTH?

Do not call for pricing or identification on vintage or newer Barbie Collectibles. (We have provided an ID guide on this site so you may determine who you have.) I do not estimate prices or values over the phone for merchandise I cannot see.

I am not buying any newer Barbie items (those made after 1985) and do not keep up with current values, so please check the internet for placing values on your dolls made after 1985.

Values for vintage items fluctuate on a daily basis, all determined by supply and demand. Condition of items will ultimately determine the value. Many of these vintage pieces are still available in large supplies, but finding these in a near mint condition is a rarity. Most collections have been played with, well loved and at best are in excellent-fair condition, requiring attention of some sort. Most often sellers feel their collections are in near mint condition. This is not the case. Upon close inspection of any vintage item, there will always be minor problems. Dolls will show paint rubs on the face, stains on the vinyl or scratches, broken limbs or splits in the vinyl, missing hair plugs or stains from earrings. Clothing has a multitude of problems including stains, worn or frayed fabric, missing snaps or buttons, fading, bleeding and a host of many other problems. These were toys meant to be played with by small children, so it is not often they are found as if newly removed from their original packages. So, the reality is that most collections are average.

If you are not able to identify your vintage items by use of our guides:

You may send me a detailed list and or photographs: by email or regular mail (SASE required for reply). I am only able to determine what you have, not values. I must physically inspect items to determine values.

You may send photographs: clear color photos please, by regular mail or through email. Photos will be returned upon your request accompanied by adequate postage and return envelope. You may also email photos, but please limit these, so as not to create large files for downloading. These need to be sent in JPEG format.

You may send the collection on approval for a free evaluation to the address listed on our home page. You will be responsible for shipping costs both ways.
