I have always loved old baskets. I have a collection of Native American Indian baskets, primarily from the North Eastern part of the United States and Canada. This includes the Great Lakes and Appalachian Regions.

Some of my favorites are those with curls on the sides of the baskets and preferably nice coloring. Most of the old baskets have faded colors on the inside and out which is totally acceptable for me since these colors naturally fade with time. These baskets with curls are usually made from northern Native American tribes such as Mic Mac, Passamaquoddy, Winnebago and many more. Baskets of all kinds are of interest including those made by Algonquin and Cherokee tribes as well. These are just more common tribe names while there are hundreds that made baskets and I love them all.

Most often these are made from split ash or oak, reeds of many kinds, birch bark & quill, and sweetgrass.

I've also acquired some old beaded pieces that display well with the baskets.

Early painted and unpainted gathering baskets are also of interest to me. I love the old buttocks baskets with or without paint and many other styles of old utility baskets.

Condition need not be perfect but I do prefer things with minor damage.
